Juniors

Junior and Youth footy at the Blues is all about fun, friendship and learning the game in a safe, inclusive environment. From our youngest Auskick participants through to our junior teams, we focus on skill development, teamwork and a genuine love of footy.

Our juniors are part of one club and connected to our senior men’s and women’s programs, supported by dedicated coaches and volunteers, and backed by a strong community culture. Whether your child is picking up a footy for the first time or looking to grow their confidence and skills, there’s a place for them at the Blues.

We pride ourselves on:

  • A welcoming, family-friendly club culture

  • Qualified and supportive coaches

  • Age-appropriate skill development and game education

  • Strong development pathways as players progress through the club

Fees & Play On Vouchers

Junior registration fees vary by age group and are set to keep football as accessible as possible for families. Queensland Government Play On Vouchers can be used to reduce the cost of registration, and can be redeemed directly through the PlayHQ registration process.

If you are planning to use a Play On Voucher, simply select this option during registration and the discount will be applied.

Registrations Now Open

Registrations for the upcoming season are now open, and we can’t wait to welcome new and returning players to pull on the navy blue jumper and be part of the Blues family.

Register here: https://www.playhq.com/afl/register/bc7859

This year, all players will receive the same merchandise, being a training top with their registration fees. If players wish to purchase shorts and socks, you can do so with registration or at the Club.

If you have any questions about fees, vouchers or registrations, please don’t hesitate to contact us - we’re always happy to help.

A note from our Junior President, Carlee

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to drop in and introduce myself, as I have recently stepped into the Junior President role here are Hinterland Blues Australian Football Club.

Our family has been a part of the club since 2013 - my husband playing in the seniors and our two eldest boys in the U8's and U10's. Aside from a few years when we were off travelling and they had a year playing for the Crocs in Darwin, our boys have played all of their junior football here. With our youngest now in the U8's, and one of our older boys playing in the Reserves, and a husband that is still out there with him ๐Ÿ˜… it's fair to say our family has been around this club a lot, and have a real heart to see it thrive.

I'm looking forward to getting to know all of the parents and kids over the season, and to partner with you all in a vision to build our junior footy with solid numbers through all of the grades - creating a clear pathway to senior footy - in the years to come ๐Ÿ™‚

WET WEATHER:  Don't forget to bring a sports bag with a towel, drink bottle and spare shoes in wet weather to avoid getting the family car dirty.

CANTEEN: The club canteen will be open on some training nights during the year. It is advised that parents make sure that junior players, in particular, have adequate nourishment throughout the day prior to attending training. The canteen is primarily for food consumption after training to assist in avoiding pre-dinner hunger pains.

BELONGINGS: Hinterland AFC accepts no responsibility for loss of any items in particular phones and laptops.  It is recommended that these items are left at home prior to training.  If travelling from school and players have valuables that require storage, Junior Players may request that a Hinterland AFC official/volunteer store such items in Canteen, Registrar Cloak Room or similar but again no liability will be taken by the club for any loss or damage.
